Matthew Whittier - President, COO
Matt attended Fairfield University before enrolling in the University of Maine. Upon completion of his studies, he partnered with his father in purchasing Offense-Defense Sports. His first representation opportunity came shortly thereafter when Ryan and Casey Powell, the two top lacrosse players in the world at the time, signed on and entered the professional ranks, opening the doors to endless endorsement activities for the talented duo.
At Offense-Defense, Matt handles a majority of the day-to-day operations while making sure to maintain intensive relationships with all past Offense-Defense camp and professional alumni. All told, he has accrued 13 years of negotiating experience. During that time, he has successfully negotiated deals with over 480 NFL athletes and has worked with every agent in the football world. He is currently integral in O-D’s expansion to media, nationally-televised Bowl Games, and two non-profit subdivisions focused on the continued improvement and assistance of youth football.
Matt is the oldest of his siblings, both sisters. Previously married, he is the proud father of a precocious five year old daughter who does her best to keep him in line. Matt lists among the things in life he is most thankful for is the ability to do the job that he loves while working with his father, ensuring that no matter how hard he works, family is never far away.
Rick Whittier - Chairman of the Board, CEO
Happily married, Rick is the father of three talented athletes. Like his son, Matt, Rick is immensely pleased to have the opportunity to work in the sports field with family, relishing the opportunity to temper his stressful working hours with the knowledge that family is always close at hand.
Rick attended college at both the University of Maine and the University of New Hampshire. His athletic accomplishments at Maine, particularly as a skier, secured him a spot in the University of Maine Hall of Fame. He translated that success into a stint on the Olympic ski team.
Not one to rest on his laurels, Rick went on to become senior vice president of Barnes and Noble, coming on when the massive book selling chain only had 32 outlets and helped transform it into the 3800 stores-plus behemoth it is today. After he left the company, he and his son purchased Offense-Defense Sports where they remain to this day. All told, Rick has negotiated business deals and professional contracts worth a grand total of over 2.1 billion dollars.
